While it seemed to the outside world that the repercussions of the Brent Bravo scandal had subsided, with media focus switched to BP’s troubles, Shell has in fact been trying to keep a lid on sensitive information emerging relating to the untimely deaths of innocent Brent Bravo workers. Sensitive because the machinations personally involve Shell CEO Jeroen van der Veer and Malcolm Brinded, the Executive Director of Shell EP. As will become clear, Brinded had a vested interest in trying to cover-up past events. more »

Why has there been no reporting of this important unprecedented defamation case involving the issuing of multiple injunctions, contempt of court proceedings, threats of imprisonment etc. against Dr Huong? “During the course of the inquiry it became apparent that evidence relating to the condition of certain valves on the platform might be relevant to the cause of the deaths of the two men, or have contributed to the incident which resulted in their deaths. However certain evidence, such as the possible consequences to the structure of the platform, and its crew, of the ignition of the vapour within the utility shaft, while of concern to some of the parties and no doubt of importance to the offshore oil industry and those who work in it, was, in my opinion, beyond the scope of the 1976 Act and more appropriate for consideration at an inquiry of a more general nature.” more »

Shell has attempted to refute the contents of its own internal audits driven by the same “Bandits” who failed to take action when they should have done in 1999.
