Let me share some more of unethical practices inside Shell. They don't even spare their employees!
Post 2004 scandal, Shell initiated a massive corporate-wide transformation Program called Downstream-One. It is an expensive program (~$9 Billion or so from 2006-2011). However, it is run like a banana republic, proclaimed governance and audit standards are often flouted blatantly. They are wasting shareholder monies! It is rife with corruption and unethical decisions.
One poor soul, who was quiet senior in this program, dared to question some of the (bad) practices and mis-management - internally whistle-blowing into bad management. Z was being bullied and harassed by immediate seniors to forcibly silent questions. When Z still continued questioning - needless to say, the individual (say, Z) was slapped a Performance Improvement Plan! I wont be surprised if Z decides to quit. Z had joined Shell 2 years ago!
Do we draw this conclusion that in Shell, one has to be scoundrel to survive other scoundrels out there or just quit? I do understand that 2 senior VPs, who joined Shell 3 years ago, in Hague quit recently, as well.
What advise would you give to Z, please? Thanks.
Regds,
